Almost all poisonings are preventable through poisoning prevention education. The Western New York Poison Center offers poisoning prevention presentations to all interested community groups as well as providing "train the trainer" programs for childcare providers, teachers and educators.

Teaching packets are available through the Poison Center. Each packet comes complete with guidelines for developing a teaching plan, pertinent statistical data, teaching suggestions, and examples for creating poisoning displays. Also included are various activity sheets for different age groups; coloring sheets, connect-the-dots, word search puzzles and stories. Handouts for parents are also included. Videos that teach children about household dangers are available on loan from the Poison Center.
